Re: Oshawa, Ontario..(East of Toronto)

Another one chiming in from the 'Swa. We need to meet up somewhere sometimes - maybe Darrel's.

Hey, be sure to visit Darryl at Buster Rhino's. For a real treat, call ahead on Thursdays and reserve on of his smoked burgers, oh man - those things are awesome - problem is they are only about the 15 minute drive away. LOL

Welcome to the group. I am in Oshawa, and smoke here and at the cottage, south of Renfrew. Nothing like shovelling a path out to some great Q.

Whenever we are injecting, we always place the meat in a garbage bag and we pump in as much liquid as the meat will take. ... Once the injecting is done, we seal up the garbage bag and place it in the Sorry but this is just wrong. Garbage bags are not made for food storage. They are often treated t...

Just came across this so thought I'd bump this thread. Never done one but it sure looks good. .... Think I'd miss the gravy though : ( When we smoke the turkey for Christmas and Thanksgiving, I simmer any trimmings, bones ( neck etc) to make a stock. I use that for a base for my gravy with Knorr Sw...

I know poultry was not what you had in mind, but I have 3 trays of boneless skinless thighs on the go. Seasoned with salt and pepper, lay on a piece of roasted red pepper, some sliced roasted garlic, a piece of old cheddar and wrapped in bacon. I am going to smoke then with some hickory. MMMMMM litt...

One other thing - It can not be left out in the rain - it needs to be under cover all the time. I store mine in the shed and wheel it out on a dolly when I want to use it - not that it is that heavy - just to bid for me to lift.

I currently have 2 electric smokers - the Centro and the Char-Broil Electric water Smoker H2O(Model: 06701311) . The CharBroil has no insulation - it is simply a water smoker with an electric element. In the winter it works extra hard to keep the temperature up and takes a little longer I find. It n...

I have the Centro smoker and enjoy it. Did an awesome brisket and lots of super ribs. The temperature contol is right on, Loading wood chips is easy and with 4 racks, I can get a lots of food into it. If I have any complaint, it is the shape of the water tray. While the smoker cabinet is rectangular...

Wow that looks yummy! That is a favourite at our house. Left overs get sliced 1/2 inch then vacuum sealed in packages of 4, and finally frozen. Great for a quick dinner, or chopped for a stir fry.
