Buster Rhino's BBQ Course

We ran our first BBQ course at the Buster Rhino's location in Whitby on the 7th of January with great success. We had 10 people (our limit to each class) sign up for the course and had an excellent time teaching them. We will be running more courses throughout the year and already have another course scheduled for the 21st of February. Take our BBQ Rib Class and learn how to cook Southern Style ribs at home. During this 4-5 hour course you will prepare and cook ribs on our Southern Pride Smoker and be able to bring them home for dinner. You will have open access to our knowledge and many of our secrets to making ribs in the Southern BBQ Tradition of “Low and Slow” cooking. Participants will learn:

• How to pick the right ribs
• Use of rubs, sauces and spices
• How to prepare ribs for your BBQ, smoker or oven
• Preparing your BBQ for the cooking process
• Understanding the process of what happens during cooking
• Tips, tricks and techniques used by BBQ professionals

WHEN: Saturday February 7 or 21, 2009 - 12:00 pm

COST: $50.00 per person

Thanks Harvey,

Last weekends course was a great success - the only big thing we will be changing for the next one which is already close to being full is that we will have handouts available to the students. The best comment I heard was that it was like drinking water from a fire hose - so much information to deal with and learn about. We are in the process of putting together courses that will give students a good framework to deal with using spices and making their own rubs, and another for sauces as well. it's going to be an interesting year.

The February 21st course has completely sold out and the next course which is on the 28th of February is half full already. Next course after the 28th will not be until late March as Beth (my wife) is due to have another baby on the 13th and no matter how much I try to tell her it's important to teach these courses apparently her having a baby trumps this...go figure! :lol:

Buster Rhino's had their second BBQ course today, a great time was had by all. Naz from Broil King showed up today and sit in on the course. He was able to discuss BBQ with my students while I was sanitizing the kitchen after putting the ribs on the smoker which was really nice for them. He was able to answer their questions about the Broil King smoker and BBQ we have in the front of our shop.

We ended up having 13 people in the class (we try to limit it to 10 people). Thanks to all those that showed up, we should have a few more people join the ranks of BBQ talk over the next couple of days.

Next course is February 28th 2008, only have 3 spots left.
