1 medium onion
2 clove garlic
2 tablespoons margarine
1/2 cup ketchup
1/4 cup water
1 1/2 tablespoons vinegar
2 tablespoon brown sugar, light
1 teaspoon prepared mustard
1/2 teaspoon red hot pepper sauce
1 each lemon
Cook the onion and garlic in butter in a medium saucepan until tender.
Add ketchup, water, vinegar, brown sugar, mustard, salt, pepper and hot pepper sauce. Bring to a boil. Remove from the heat and let stand for the flavours to mingle. At this point, a sliced lemon or orange can be added, or a bit of the juice of either.
Dry and wet rubs, basting and finishing sauces, glazes, mops, marinades, flavor brines, and injection solutions.
