Wow, excellent learning opportunity!

Post by Dkoster » Tue Mar 25, 2008 7:32 am

I just received an email from Team Cedar Grilling regarding an upcoming Rib Class that I thought should be posted to this board. It really is a great opportunity for individuals who want to learn how to cook ribs the low and slow way over charcoal to pick up some great tips and techniques from the pro's (and when I say pro's I mean lots of them). The following teams have agreed to help with the class;

Team Cedar Grilling
Jason from Swines and Bovines
Earl from Bustin' Loose
Aaron and Adrienne from Smokin' in the Igloo
Vince from Two Men and a Hog

I would post the awards these teams have one, each have won so many competitions that it would take up too much room on this page.

Here are the details

Location: Backyard Touch, 318 guelph St. Georgetown, ON (905) 873-8835
Date: Saturday April 26th, 2008 from 10:00AM to 4:00PM
Info: The demostration will be held on PRIMO ceramic charcoal Barbecues. Each participant will cook their own rack of ribs to eat or take home (Rubs and Sauces supplied). Team Cedar Grilling will be serving their award winning 18hour pulled pork sandwiches for lunch while your ribs are cooking.
Cost: Tickets are $19.95 refundable with a purchase of $100.00 or more. (Team Cedar Grilling ARE NOT being paid for this)

Space is very limited with over half the tickets sold already!

I have attached the PDF I was sent Click Here (615 Kb) I have also included this wonderful piece of food porn they sent along with the email.

Actually I think this is there way to donating to the CBA as well, and for some of them their sponsors. Personally I know all the teams at the CBA that have sponsors understand how hard it is to get good sponsors and retain them. It doesn't surprise me in the least to see the teams that are doing this there. What is good for one team is really good for all of them, if sponsors can see we are a close knit community and work well together they are much more likely to sponsor teams, events, the CBA itself.

We volunteer because it is continuing the good will that was passed on to us by Earl, Darryl, Harvey, Mike, Vince, Reg, Aaron, Rambo, Lee, Steve, Darrin, Peter, Barry etc. etc. etc. too many names to list. These people all helped us out back when we didn't know squat about what we were doing and I know for a fact that if I asked any of them for help today, they'd give it in an instant. At our very first competition in Ottawa a few years back, I think Earl spent more time trying to help us get another 40 degrees into our brisket, 3 hours before turn in, then he did on his own meat. Harvey took me aside after that event and straightened me out on my chicken. Darryl believed in us and took a chance on us and agreed to sponsor us before we'd even competed in a single event. These are the kind of people involved in Canadian BBQ. I could type another 200 stories similar to the ones above. What other competitive event could you enter where your competition actually wants to help you get better? Come out to the event, meet some of the nicest people you'll ever have the pleasure to know, and you'll find it doesn't take long before you have 200 stories of your own.

wow, what a deal, a full rack of cooked ribs, lunch by the Canadian Champs and all the good bbq advice you can handle and all for $20. I'm tempted to go myself.

Great job people.

Jules, I find Google maps to be an easy solution.

Use this link and click on 'get directions', enter your home address and the destination address and you're set.
