I am thinking about building a barrel smoker,Any plans out there?I have two barrels but not sure how big of a dia. pipe to connect them together

Why not build a Ugly Drum Smoker? Easy to build, easy to operate.

Here is a plan for a double d smoker. i plan on building one of these as soon as i finish my garage and get my electrical hooked up so i can use my welder.
