Who is a true ambassador for Canadian BBQ?

Post by Bubba-Q » Sun Jul 27, 2008 10:46 am

I have been asked by the organizers of The Jack Daniels contest to provide them with a true ambassador of the Canadian BBQ community to judge the most prestigious contest on the planet.

Please use this thread to nominate who you think would represent us the best at The Jack 2008.

I will create a poll of the suggestions and we will pick a winner by Thursday July 31, 2008 at 6 p.m.

Please give your utmost consideration for who truly represents Canadian BBQ.

Who has the passion, the drive, the dedication, the devotion etc. etc. etc.?

Tell us who you nominate, and why.
There are three types of people in this world; those who make things happen, those who watch things happen, and those who wonder what happened, which one are you?

Earl - hands down.

I've met a lot of great people doing this, but I think I'd be hard pressed to find a more genuine ambassador of BBQ then Earl. Be it helping out another team, volunteering to help the CBA or the charity work that he does, he makes sure he uses every one of those 284 smokers of his for the betterment of society. I've never heard anyone utter a harsh word about Earl and his glass-half-full outlook always seems to put you at ease with whatever the situation at hand is. Earl is a fellow competitor whom I have a huge amount of respect for, but he's also the type of person that you talk to once and you know you've got a friend for life. There are a ton of other wonderful people who would be excellent choices as well, but I don't think anyone posting below me can argue that Earl is a very deserving candidate.

Well put J!
Earl has my vote for sure as he has always been around for so many people. I would really like to see him soak it up at the Jack as a judge. He once told me he would never go to the Jack unless he won the right but I think he would take us up on this great privilige.
Earl you will always be welcome in our kitchen.

Earl Whyte for sure no doubt about it.

I think he is a TRUE Canadian Ambassador of BBQ.

He has done so much to help so many teams whether it be lend equipment or lend his ear. Truly a Gentleman of BBQ.

Tammy and I both vote for Earl as well.

Earl was the first one on the circuit to make us feel welcome and we feel he would represent Canadian BBQ with professionalism and integrity.

Cheers..............Mike

Definately Earl. He stepped up and helped us out that first amateur competition and I'll never forget that.

Well i have to say this is a nice way to start off the week. Thank you all for the kind words & support you have shown me . ( sounds like I'm running for an election "NOT" ) LOL Steve you're right, i have always stood my ground & said i would not go the such a well respected & prestigious event unless i felt i had honestly earned the right to be there. I have never looked at that going down to the Jack any other way than to win the Canadian Championship & we all know that hasn't happened "YET" . Now, not changing my mindset but after reading your posts maybe i found a small loophole in my way of thinking. I have not looked at helping as a way to end up benefiting like this. It was more too bring in the outsider & to make someone feel more comfortable doing what they loved to do, cook bbq. If i look at this the right way, then acording to you folks i just might have worked for & indirectly might earned the right to make the trip down south. Being a certified KCBS judge for some years it would be great to be on that side of the table at an event like Jack Daniels so i would love to toss my name into the hat for 2008
Again thank's to Jason & everyione else that i have both worked with, worked beside or cooked in the past years.
Heck maybe i could find a nice smoker to buy while i'am down there!

Cheers
Earl
