Had a great time in Paris!!
Regardless of whether there have been an all-time low of 7 teams or an all-time high of 28, it's always been a warm, welcoming bbq event for pros and amateurs alike.
Personally, our team had its struggles, but the things I wrote down as 'issues' is minor. Honestly, it just goes to show the quality of teams like BBQ Effect, Can't Stop Grillin', Smokin' in the Igloo, Diva Q, Bustin' Loose, Smoked Meets, Happy Grillmore, and that new team that made an effect and I didn't event get the chance to meet! Happen'in' Grillin More.. jeez, I know that's wrong; my apologies. Personally, I had 8 hrs sleep Wed-Sat and it took the 17 on Sunday into Monday to even give me the strength to write this email!! LOL
So, not to go on and on, I am so pleased and proud of the quality of teams coming from Ontario these days! We're seeing it comp by comp that Ontario teams are surfacing at the top of standings at our own and US events at a steady rate. We should all take pride in that. If the Jack wants to place a 15/25 restriction on our events, I think we should all make a commitment to come out to the remaining summer events and make them all qualifiers. We owe it to our local teams to get 1 or 2 of them to the Jack! The quality of bbq is too high to hold back a team like Can't Stop Grillin, Diva Q, Smokin' in the Igloo etc from competing at the highest level, IMO.
Now that Paris is complete (awesome job again Scotty!), let's turn our sights towards support of Listowel, Whitby and St Thomas!
Not sure what the future holds, but the recent past in Paris was pretty cool. I sure needed more sleep though! LOL

Great weekend as always Scotty, thanks for all the time you spent helping everyone over & over again. Congratulations to everyone that showed up in Paris & got on stage but an even bigger Congratulations to those teams that never got there but sure as heck put in the time & efforts the whole weekend. Every year it takes more & more to hit stage because each team is putting out better turn-in boxes for the judges & it's harder for them to decide who it should be. Smoked Meats thanks for the help you guys tossed our way over the weekend, good to have a beer with you as always.

Untill the next time

Scotty thanks for all you time and work that went into putting this event on each year. I had my concerns going into this event as I was not sure what to expect since the downfall of our CBA and some of the comments made inside these types of forums. In the end it was a a gathering of great people and with great teams having a great time and somehow Scotty managed to insert a bbq contest along the way.

I just can not believe we got the final call. I was expecting Smoking in the Igloo or Happy Smoke More. Smoking in the Igloo gets three calls and Smoke more gets two firsts and they call our name. WOW That was so unexpected but shows how close the teams are and anything can happen.

Thanks for all the congrats and I am looking forward to this weeks Toronto event and hopefully other teams will sign up and make the trip down the 401.

Special thanks to Vlado and Danielle of Divaq ( Reserve Grand Champs) for all your help over the winter in answering my questions and allowing me to be apart of their team in Arkinsas and seeing what it takes to win one of these events.

Nice to see there truly is great competition in Ontario and I am greatful to be a part of it.

All the best and good luck to all the teams competing this weekend in Toronto.

Tim

Happy Smoke More. That's it; thanks Tim!
LOL
Glad to see you overcame your butt scoopage in London!
Yeah, for all the 'negative' that goes on sometimes, the actual events bring out the best in everyone. I hope we all can continue to rally around Ontario bbq.
Contact us if there is anything we can do in St Thomas to see that the 'grillin for the cure' effort gets as much support and exposure as possible! I don't know of anyone in the bbq community who's life hasn't been touched in some way by the effects of cancer. Whatever we can do to tie that fight against cancer into our event, we will do it! Any thoughts or ideas, pass them along!

Smokin in the Igloo BBQ Team will continue to donate all funds won through competition to the fight agains breast cancer, as we have done over the previous two seasons. Obviously not in the hobby to make money, but rather for the love of bbq!
Many thanks to sponsors supporting my team:
