Hey Stevo,

I am in Kingston, but was recently in the Ottawa area and found some pecan chips at a Home Hardware in Rockland (they had lots, but it is probably a long drive for you). You could go to your local Home Hardware and see if they have any, or see if they would order any for you.

ya this was my next move, I think what I need to do is make an order from smokelisious, get the flavors that I think I would like to try and go from there. Pecan is a wood that I have never tried. I heard it was similar to Hickory.

BB hooked me up for the maple so there will be a road trip in the near future. Thanks again BB

Stevo, you've got to try pecan. Last week, I did up a jerked chicken and smoked it lightly with the pecan. I had no idea what the result would be, but it was very good.

The information I have about pecan is that it gives a more subtle smoky flavour and a slight nutty taste. Both of which came through well with the jerked chicken. Pecan I've heard also burns/smokes cooler than most woods, especially mesquite.

I've got a "ceasar" marinated brisket on the grill right now that I am using the pecan with.

Cheers,
Piman

I've got a great store in Toronto. Maybe they will post your wood for you . You would have to call and ask. They have all the woods, in chunks as well as chips and dust.
Here is the link.
